NetworthIQ in Business Week

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Big news!! NetworthIQ is in this week’s Business Week (article, by Jessi Hempel). As some may know, we were in the New York Times back in September, so this is the second big PR win for NetworthIQ (all viral I might add, considering our budget is right around $0). Let’s see if we can surpass 3000 members after the dust settles (currently around 2650). This time email verification is in effect (we put that in a couple weeks ago), so the number of bogus profiles should be smaller.

Also featured in the article are a few members of the NetworthIQ community: JaneDough of Boston Gals Open wallet (NetworthIQ profile), MadameX of My Open Wallet (NetworthIQ profile), and SavvySaver (NetworthIQ profile). The MoneyBlogNetwork, which includes a few other friends of NetworthIQ (Jim, Flexo, and FMF) was also included. Congratulations all around!

Real Estate valuation

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

Many users have questioned/commented on how best to account for real estate values in your NetworthIQ balance sheets. A new site was launched yesterday, Zillow.com, that claims to be able to do this for you. From my tests, the values it gives are at least in the ballpark. So, if you’re not quite sure what to enter your real estate as, I’d reccommend checking Zillow.com out as opposed to using property tax statements or guessing a number.

Whoops, sorry about that

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. No fear, we’re still here :-). You may have noticed some emails from us this morning if you chose to receive reminders and have not already updated your net worth for the January/February time frame. There was a technical problem that led to blank emails going out. So, after fixing the problem the emails were re-sent. I apologize for the duplicate emails if you received them.
