MoneyBlogNetwork Launches

Monday, January 23rd, 2006

Looks like some of the major forces of personal finance blogging are joining forces. Today, the MoneyBlogNetwork was announced.

Putting 5 heads together should result in some interesting stuff. I’m curious to see what they come up with.

New features today: tagging and sorting

Wednesday, January 18th, 2006

January’s been a relatively productive month for NetworthIQ. Today, we’re releasing a couple new features.

First is tagging. You can now assign tags to your profile and associate it with a custom group. For instance, the personal finance blogger contingent here can tag their profile “pfblogger” or whatever is decided and by doing so you can go to http://www.networthiq.com/tag/pfblogger and get the listing of users who have used that tag. There are many other possible uses such as tagging your college, high school, company, or whatever other groups you belong to online or in the physical world. I can’t wait to see what people come up with. Go to the “My Account” page to add tags.

The second new feature is sorting of the user listings. Though on the surface, this a minor enhancement, sorting is probably one of the most useful features we’ve finished in a long time. It’s much easier to analyze, group, and discover users now. This is also one of the most requested featues, so we’re happy to put our feedback to use.

Update
Hazzard is leading the way, suggesting “Personal Finance Blogger”. You can see the users using it here: http://www.networthiq.com/tag/Personal+Finance+Blogger

Update 2
Caitlin from Clutter2Cash has created a tag for women. Gender has been requested a couple times in feedback, so this is a great use of tags to satisfy this requirement.

Come explore NetworthIQ

Friday, January 6th, 2006

One of the things missing from NetworthIQ was the ability to see the highlights of what’s happening on the site. The new and popular users are on the home page, but there’s a lot of other interesting things to keep track of. So, today we released the explore section of the site. Along with the new and popular users, it features:

In addition, the Net Worth Statistics have been updated through the end of December and made part of the explore section for easy access.

What else do you think would be interesting to see?

NetworthIQ on eHub Interviews

Monday, January 2nd, 2006

The eHub interviews project has published an interview with me about NetworthIQ. Read the interview here.

Emily Chang’s eHub is a great resource for keeping up with the latest applications from around the web. The interviews that she and Max Kiesler are doing have been really interesting to read, seeing that many teams have the same issues as us, and putting a more human feel on the sites.
